Environmental Pollution

The Municipal Health Services Division performs routine inspections, special inspections and monitoring including public complaints on residential premises and business premises to anticipate, evaluate and minimize environmental health risks regarding the following:

  • Hygienic living, working and recreational environments.

  • Environmental health pollutant levels and their sources.

  • Mapping of environmental health risks.

  • Approve environmental health impact reports.

  • Monitor and sampling of air pollution levels i.e. asbestos, lead etc.

  • Control and prevention of vibration and noise pollution.

  • Prevention and control of land pollution detrimental to human, animal and plant life.

  • Any preventative measures required to ensure a risk free environment.

  • Sanitation health and hygiene awareness (PHAST).
