Vector Control

The Municipal Health Services Division performs routine inspections, special inspections and monitoring on residential premises, business premises and open spaces to identify, detect and minimize risks regarding rodents and insects to prevent or minimize vector borne diseases, which includes complaints from the public.

Other services include:


  • Rendering of insects, rodent, mongoose and springhare control service at all municipal premises and buffer zones.

  • Elimination and cleaning of nests of bee and wasp swarms in water / electricity meters, fire hydrants, lamp posts etc.

  • Spraying of rain water pools during the raining season to eliminate mosquito larvae.

  • Provide the public with information and guidance with regard to control measures.

  • Serological test on rodents, dogs and other pets.

  • Investigate zoönotic diseases and other vector borne diseases in the working and living environment.
