Notice: Illegal Work Stoppage (updated)

ALL AND EACH AND EVERY EMPLOYEE(S) INVOLVED IN AN ILLEGAL WORK STOPPAGE: SOLID WASTE AND FLEET (Updated & Published on 22 December 2020)

The above matter and the letter issued on the 21 st December 2020 refers and the previous letter is hereby withdrawn and replaced. It has come to the attention of management that since Tuesday 15 December 2020 you are embarked on an illegal work stoppage. You are advised that your work stoppage is not a protected strike and therefore in breach of your employment contract. The Municipality is not obliged to remunerate you for the time whilst engaged in illegal strike and therefore the “no work no pay rule” will apply covering and during the period of the work stoppage. You are instructed and given an ultimatum to return to work and provide your workplace services on or before 15h30, 24 December 2020. Your failure to return to work and provide services on or by the stipulated time will the Municipality with no option but to approach courts for appropriate relief, take disciplinary or other action.
